The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers are in Liverpool to compete for the Don Johnson Cup, the Maritime Junior B Championship. The Vipers begin play tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26th, at 4:00 against the Nova Scotia Champions, Antigonish Bulldogs. The Bulldogs play the host team, Liverpool Privateers tonight. The Vipers represent PEI as they defeated the Sherwood A & S Scrap Metal Metros in the PEI best of 7 Championship, 4 games to 1.
The Vipers come into the Don Johnson rested as they had two and a half weeks to rest after the finals on PEI. The Bulldogs, however, just finished a 7-game series last Saturday to win the NS Championship, followed by game 1 of the Don Johnson tonight. The Vipers hope to take advantage of a tired Antigonish squad. The Vipers have a very balanced team and are solid defensively, led by IJHL Playoff MVP, Ethan Beaulieu, and have several offensive threats.
The remainder of the Vipers games are as follows:
Thursday, April 27, 12:00 vs. Newfoundland and Labrador’s representative, Mount Pearl Junior Blades
Friday, April 28, 12:00 vs. New Brunswick’s Representatives Kent Koyotes, Last Year’s Don Johnson Cup Champs
Friday, April 28, 7:30 vs. The host team, Liverpool Privateers.
The top 4 teams will play in crossovers on Saturday, 1vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3, with the winners moving on to play in the Championship on Sunday.
